Privacy policy.
Ournest is yours, not ours. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we’ll never do with it. If a sentence here sounds slippery, it isn’t meant to. Ask us and we’ll rewrite it.
What we collect
Account info. Your name (if you give it), email address, and the password hash for sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
Your place. The photos, notes, plot details, tags, and saved ideas you add to Ournest. We store these so we can show them back to you and generate ideas that fit.
Usage. Basic logs about what you do in the app (pages opened, features used, errors), device and browser type, and IP address. We use this to keep the service running and to fix things that break.
Billing. If you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details. We never see or store the card itself.
How we use what we collect
We use your information to run Ournest: to sign you in, store your place and your saved ideas, generate the weekly drip of ideas you came here for, send you product emails you can opt out of, and keep the service safe. That’s the whole list.
AI and your photos
Ournest uses generative AI to turn your photos and notes into ideas tailored to your place. We process images and prompts using Google’s Gemini Services (Gemini and related APIs from Google).
Two things to be clear about:
- We do not train AI models on your content. Your photos, notes, and generated ideas are never used to train Ournest models or anyone else’s.
- Under Google’s paid Gemini API terms, Google does not use the data we send them to train their models either.
Generated ideas are stored in your account so you can come back to them. You can delete them any time from your feed or your settings.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell your data. We share what we have to share to keep Ournest running, with a small number of trusted vendors:
- Google Firebase. Authentication, database, file storage, and hosting.
- Google Gemini. AI processing of your photos and prompts to generate ideas.
- Stripe. Subscription billing and payments.
- Email and analytics tools. To send the emails you’ve asked for and to understand how the product is used in aggregate.
We may also share data if a law requires it, or to protect Ournest, our users, or the public from harm.
Where data lives, and for how long
Ournest is hosted on Google Cloud. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, in line with applicable cross-border data transfer rules.
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete an item, we remove it from active storage; backup copies may persist for up to 30 days. If you delete your account, we delete your content within 30 days, except where we must keep records (for example, billing records) for legal reasons.
Your rights
You can see and edit most of your data from inside the app, and you can delete your account at any time from settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Write to hello@contextaware.com.au and we’ll help.
Children
Ournest isn’t for children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you think a child has signed up, let us know and we’ll remove the account.
Cookies and similar
We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the product is doing in aggregate. We don’t use third-party advertising trackers.
Changes to this policy
When we make a meaningful change, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The latest version always lives at this page.
